Documentary Style Wedding Photography

Hi, I’m Ian and I’m no ordinary wedding photographer.

My influence is steeped in photography history (which I lecture on at City of Sunderland College), street and documentary photography. It’s about moments, small interactions and busts of emotion that can happen within the blink of an eye. I am an observer, watching and waiting, and anticipating those moments to capture the reality of your wedding day.

In capturing these details I can show the big picture of your wedding without making it feel like a huge elaborate photoshoot. You‘ve meticulously planned your perfect day, why shouldn’t you be part of it. You will have enjoyed yourselves with your family and closest friends and will have a true document, recorded from a guests eye point of view.

I understand that people may be travelling from far off places to be with you on your wedding day, and I’m certainly not opposed to the odd group shot should you want a couple.
Aunty Mary might want a photo for the mantle!

I’ve recently been included into Nicholas Purcell's ‘Best 100 Wedding Photographers in World’ and I’ve been interviewed about my unique approach and style for PhotoBiz Exposed Podcast.
I’ve also been called, the Elliot Erwitt of wedding photography - huge praise indeed.

This isn’t wedding photography as you know it, it’s not posed or scripted.
It’s real and it’s timeless.

If you’re thinking differently about your wedding photography I’d love to hear from you. We can have a chat about your wedding over coffee and cakes.

“I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them." - Elliot Erwitt

I treat each wedding as a new assignment and I’m there to tell the story. I’m there to make photographs, not to dazzle you with a fancy light show and run around in a wacky harness that has 4 cameras hanging from it, getting in everyones way and shouting orders...
