At Divine Day, we are three very experienced wedding photojournalists. Our backgrounds are in fashion, food, corporate and architectural photography, working with names like FENDI, CK, Speedo & Porsche but hands down our favourite is shooting weddings! I am Sandra and in my team are Jerri and Lee who work with me. Sometimes together and when it's busy, we might all be shooting different weddings on the same day. We all have a very similar approach. Friendly, but still unobtrusive, focusing on capturing the candid, artistically with mood and insight but of course skilled at creating the obligatory formal shots and also making them feel natural and relaxed.
Reportage Wedding Photography With a Fine Art Feel?
Divine Day Photography has always been about capturing the moment. Wedding photography for the most part now is mostly about just that. The days of pre-posed snapping all day long have more or less vanished with digital now being the dominant force. It?s free to shoot and that means you can shoot without fear!
Capturing moments really is at the crux of our mentality, but we aim for more. Where Divine Day has started to really develop is in creating images that tell a story in a way that challenges conventional composition. We busy ourselves capturing your details; the dress, the table settings, the flowers and the hundreds of other pieces you?ve pulled together. We also capture those you managed to get as a result of forces beyond your control?the light of the sun hitting the ancient floors of the church, the horses having a play in the field beside you. We like to build the story of your wedding day out of all the parts that made the day what it was. Sometimes this means shooting the town and the surrounds to give the viewer a feeling for what it was like to be inside that day and experience the motions of arriving at the venue. The signs you pass, the aging farmhouse en-route or the skies above if they are offering up rather magnificent clouds or light. It all matters. This is where the idea of fine art wedding photography comes from. We hope we can deliver wedding photographs that are something you actually want to see in a frame, perhaps as a piece that stands alone from the day itself.
All this is ever evolving. Our clients choose us because they wanted something different. They wanted to have the details covered, the gorgeous portraits of family, friends and of course epic shots of themselves together and moments shared. In choosing us they have given us a massive honour and the freedom to dig under the surface and get right inside the day capturing it as we feel and often feeling while we capture. It?s a rare wedding that doesn?t at some point tug at my heart.
I hope that helps to explain what we are and what we aim to do. I could write a book but that will be later!

WeddingLovely Blog Features
Weddings are all about family, friends and food. Here is a wedding that became so much more than the simplicity of just that. The weather was magical, only the day after did it turn to pot. The flowers & events team who I doubted could add any more...
We are a group of three with fashion backgrounds. We all love our reportage, but do it with an editorial slant, and love to attempt to create a fine art look. I am Sandra von Riekhoff, the founder who started it back in 2007. We have managed to snap up a few awards along the way and have shot all over the world.
